Here is a picture of the pen I picked up at the DC Pen Show. I took these photos at the hotel before I had a chance to even write with it.
The polishing cloth really took out the micro scratches and it looks brand-new! In time some of the patina will come back.
Here are some highlights from my sister’s trip. Want to hear what she said they made me laugh? When I told her I have pen pals she asked me, “Why don’t you just text them?”
From DC, here are a few pics. This is my friend, Chris, who I hadn’t seen in many years. We had a great lunch and a lot of laughs!
My little coffee spot.
Some Pro-Palestinian protests. They were looking for their 10th body to join so they could legally march in the street.🚨 Spoiler alert: they found one!
Teddy in the Subway. He is not accustomed to a clean train station.
Picture from dinner with my friend Staci, her wife Annie, and Jose.
Ted and Annie - Staci’s wife. 🤟
Here is one of my never pens I used to write you. It’s an Omas “Rinascimento”. I think I won the bid for $50. I really love this pen. The big is rigid as a nail, but it’s smooth.
I’m embarrassed to say that I can across another auction for a 146. The nib was very tarnished. I think the dark nib scared folks. I put in a bid for $200, thinking it work go way up, and I won it. So now I am an owner of 2. Guess the tarnished nib scared everyone off.
It is in pristine shape! A beautiful medium nib- different from the other one I got which is a fine nib.
Honestly, I couldn’t imagine someone writing with this pen and not loving it. It feels expensive. It lays a really wet line. I tend to write at an angle and you can see the tines adapting and hugging the paper.
It also really springy - minimal variation but does flex a bit.
It has a “14C” monotone nib- the same as my other 146. From what I’ve read it seems uncommon for a monotone nib to be marked 14C, as they are usually marked “14K”.
The cap band doesn’t have “West Germany” or in a serial number etched.
I think it’s from the very early 70’s. I’m going to try to read some more about it.
Tell next time !
